PA Political Astrology: Pisces Jim Gerlach (R) drops out of 2010 Gubernatorial Race
While I was fluttering about on twitter, I came across a tweet by Politicspa about Jim Gerlach’s withdrawal from the PA Governor’s race. My immediate reaction was, “Well, that sounds very Mercury Retrograde-esque,” and then I decided to check the planets. I found a birth date of February 25, 1955 on Wikipedia, and plugged it into Astro.com. I’ve used a default birth time of 6am, though exact time is unknown- I will not be taking house positions or rulerships into account. (See chart graphic below.)
The first thing I noticed was good ‘ol Uranus- the King of Unexpected. Gerlach has a natal Venus/Uranus opposition, though Jupiter is also conjunct Uranus which adds an element of expansion or luck (good or bad) into the equation. This opposition is currently being hit by a conjunction of the transiting North and South Nodes. In addition, his progressed Venus is sitting in a conjunction with transiting Uranus. To me, this signals an unexpected change in a financial situation. God knows, finances are key to succeeding in politics. It could also indicate issues with a spouse but I don’t know anything about his personal life. We’ll see if the news sheds any light on this issue.
I also noticed that transiting Pluto is conjunct Gerlach’s natal North Node, which is also being squared by transiting Saturn. Pluto always brings a heavy load with it- even when it’s good. He could be going through a major change to his lifestyle or career path, though I’d need further details on house positions to see that. There is talk that he will instead, run for re-election in the 6th Congressional District. (See articles on Politico, Politicspa, and Capitol Ideas.) In any case, I do wish him the best in whatever he decides- he is a good looking guy, even for a Republican.

transit pluto square venus: wow, i’m not that pretty (part 1)
goddamn that pluto and his dark lessons. i’ve been staring in the mirror lately (like i usually do) and i realized that i’m uglier than i’d previously believed. that sucks, huh? you know how you can look in the mirror and really like what you see but then you get out a digital camera or stand in front of a webcam and realize, “oh my god, i look like an asshole, why am i taking a picture of this?” that’s how i feel. why does the camera hate me with a passion. none of the pictures of me reflect what i see in the mirror- and i look in the mirror A LOT. (remember that i am a narcissist.)
i must take into account that i am also going through a pluto/mercury square transit, so my thoughts are anything but bright. but i’m realizing that i need to bump up my self-presentation. i’ve been working out regularly and am really starting to hate my hair again. and my face is breaking out again. aarrrgghh!
i’ve been through the ugly phase before, as i’ve also been through the pretty phase. hopefully, i’ll emerge from these transits transformed yet again…
mars, pluto, the sun, and me
ok, so a while ago i wrote some nonsense about mars neglecting to manifest in my personality but i was totally wrong. i was just being moody with my mars in cancer. but the current astro-climate has me hostile and unsettled. mars, pluto, and the sun are squaring my natal sun and also triggering the natal sextile aspect between mars and the sun, mercury, and venus. jupiter is even involved as it sits in trine to those transiting agitators.
am i complaning, no, not at them moment. i’m sitting in my pajamas, at my computer on holiday break, which is a perfect environment. otherwise, i’d be at risk of scaring others with my volatile temper that rears its ugly head in random moments when things get blown out of proportion. i think i ended a friendship last weekend- lots of mars/pluto in the air.
